RI-GJANICA

Urban and landscape regeneration of Fier's city centre

The city is established and organized along the banks of the river. It is a fortune, a great opportunity for the development and valorisation of the landscape.
Fier was found and developed on the banks of the Gjanica river, where bridges were a vital element for the entire system. Today there are 12, each with its history.  Today the river is seen as a boundary dividing the city on two sides, where the western part is more developed than the eastern part. The project aims to restore the magniture of this river as the principle generator of the city. The first step in addressing the topic of the project was the analysis of the current state of the territory, especially the bandwagon horizon over the Gjanica river, which over the years has been conditioned by intense, irresistible construction.
